This is the start of the last block of sessions for this school year.  We can’t quite believe that we have nearly completed 3 years at Manor, wow how time flies when you are having fun!

After a quick warm up, the players were split into 3 teams of 4 with a fixed goalkeeper.  We played on 3/4 of a court and the idea behind the session was that one group of players had 10 balls to try to score as many goals as possible.  If the ball was saved and held by the goalkeeper, or went out of play on any side, then that ball was finished.  The defenders had to stay in their half of the court, but if they won the ball, they could try to score from their own half into an unguarded net.  The attackers had a safe area, just inside their half, in which they could keep the ball and start the attacks from.

It was interesting to watch how each group decided how to play.  One team went very slow, being very patient in possession, and having 2 or 3 players in the safe zone.  Another team went at pace and played the ball high up the court as quick as possible.

In the match at the end, we split the players into 2 teams, and every 2 minutes they had to swap the substitutes.  The players were rusty, taking too many touches before passing, and quite often running into the defenders and losing the ball.

It was great to be back, a good session with plenty of attitude from all the players and it is always good to welcome back Matthew to help out.  See you all next week!

Girls’ player of the week – Ellen – Massive improvement in her basic play tonight, she controlled and passed the ball very well!  Great to see her finish the session with a smile also, well done Ellen!

Boys’ player of the week – Recce – He worked so hard tonight and moved the ball quickly and effectively when he needed to.  To top off a great night, he also scored a couple of well taken goals, well played Reece!
