We were back, again, after the enforced second four week lockdown, and boy, were the girls happy about that! It was so good to know that for the time being, at least, we have 3 sessions to play futsal!

And even better, we had yet more new players, welcome to Martha and Megan – we hope you all had a fab time and hope to see you again very soon.

The first group worked on traveling with the ball. They used different parts of the foot, change of directions and stopping the ball using their sole. We moved on to some 1v1 play with a shot at Katie in goal. The defender was locked in a square, so once they were beat, the attacker was in on goal! If only Sophie could have worked out where the square was! We finished with some fantastic matches, in which when the player shot, they had to run round the goal before they were back in play.

The second group also worked on their running with the ball but over the full court. They started unopposed against the clock and moved swiftly on to 1v1s against a defender. We moved this onto the halfway line, where the players could attack either goal. Top marks to Ruby for switching direction very effectively. In the final games, the players could only pass sidewards or forwards when in the opposition’s half. This meant the players had to be super positive!

Wow, what a fab bunch we have! Two very good, highly competitive sessions but all with the right attitude. Stay safe everyone and we will see you next week for much more of the same!

Player of the week for the younger group was Irma – She may be one of the youngest and newest members we have but she has a huge heart and is not afraid to tackle anyone! Amazing to watch and definitely one for the future!

Player of the week for the older group was Heather – Another one of our new players but she worked her socks off and what a shot, one of the hardest in the group! Can’t wait to see how she develops in the future!
