What another amazing year in my coaching career.  With so many highlights it has been hard to pick any out, but here is a short review of the year, in no particular order!

Manor Futsal Club – We started our 3rd season by selling out every place, an amazing achievement.  We also ran the first ever Manor Futsal Cup for the school and saw some fantastic games and last second goals.  We ran 33 sessions throughout the school year, with fantastic support from boys and girls in Years 7, 8 and 9.  In a chaotic two-day period, we showcased futsal to nearly 100 visiting Year 6s!  Can’t wait to start again in September.

Bootham Futsal Club – In November 2017 we finally started the brand new all girls futsal club and by the end of the year over 50 girls from U10s to U16s had tried the game.  In February 2018 we ran the first ever York Futsal Cup for girls, getting 10 teams to compete at various age groups.  We also managed to get the U12s and U16s teams to the National Futsal Finals in Birmingham in June 2018.  The U14s also played a competitive game against the Australia U14 team, amazing night.  We have big plans for next season, roll on September 2018.  Special thank you to our brand new sponsors Britannia Monitoring Systems Limited.

York City Football Club – I continued my work as head coach for the U13 Academy side and had the huge pleasure of taking the boys to an Easter tournament in Holland.  The boys did amazing and only lost in the main final on a penalty shoot-out.  With the academy changing for the start of the 2018-19 season, lots of uncertainty to come, but I have confirmed I will be back running the same age group.

I can’t believe so many amazing photographs and memories from one season!

Rawcliffe U15s Girls – The girls had an amazing season.  After gaining only one point in the first 3 league games, they went on an amazing run of being unbeaten in the next 11 games.  By the end of the season, the girls finished a superb 3rd, and managed to reach the RI Tournament Cup Final.  As a team, they are just getting better and better, can’t wait to see what they do as U16s!

FA Coaching Courses – In February I passed my Level 3 UEFA B Football coaching course, something I have been aiming to do for several years.  Within the next few months I will also compete and hopefully pass my Level 3 UEFA B in Futsal Coaching.  No idea what I will try next but be assured, there will be something!

Huge thank you to everyone I have had the amazing pleasure of coaching with this year, especially David at Rawcliffe, Russ and Luke at York City, Simon at Manor, Junior at York City Futsal and all the visiting coaches to Bootham.

Final note is a special huge hug for my wife Suzy.  Her patience and understanding allows me to be out of the house at all times and in all weathers loving my coaching.  She has been a real inspiration in the continue success of Manor Futsal Club and without her help, Bootham Futsal Club would never have got off the ground.  Simply put, you are the best!
