York City FC Futsal entertained Salisbury United FC in their first home game of the new FA Futsal Super League.  Salisbury have started on fire winning 3 out of 3 and York were looking to bounce back after a disappointing defeat away to Manchester last week.

In a very close first half, Salisbury took the lead but York came back to score twice before half time and finished the first half 2-1 ahead.  An early second half goal from Salisbury again brought the game level, and they then took the lead with a fantastic chip over the York goalkeeper.  York then took control of the game and scored 3 quick goals to lead 5-3 going into the last few minutes.  Salisbury flew their goalkeeper for the last 2 minutes, and got caught out when the York goalkeeper saved well, and immediately cleared the ball over everyone’s heads into an empty net!  Final score York City FC Futsal 6 Salisbury United FC 3.

Coaches Chris and Suzy Collins brought a group of players from Manor CE Futsal Club, some to watch their first top-level futsal game.  It is fair to say the players loved it with comments like, ‘I just want to play futsal now!….That goalkeeper’s goal was sick!…I loved it, can we come again!’

York’s next home game is on Sunday 12 November at 4.30pm against Genesis.  Before the league game, York City U13 Academy Football team will play York City U14 Futsal side, in a return game from last month’s friendly.  Why not come down early and watch both matches, there are sure to be plenty of goals in both!
