We welcomed three new girls to the younger group this week, they were Emily, Jessica and Tilly, we hope you had fun and hope to see you again very soon!

After a quick game of Bulldog the first group work on their passing and moving around the court in groups of 3. They were challenged with passing and travelling through different gates all over the court.

We moved on to some 1v1 constant play with all the players attacking both goals in rotation, first being the attacker and then being the defender. We saw some brilliant defending from lots of players and we do love a toe poke finish!

The older group started with the 1v1 continuous play, but we concentrated on getting close to the goal and trying to finish the play, so as not to allow the counter-attack. We also spoke about where the player should try and make the tackle on the attacker, and how this made it harder for them score.

We progressed this to a 2v2 continuous game, with emphasis on getting beyond the defenders to make the court big. We added in two players on the goal line to act as support players, who the attackers could use if they wanted. In the games at the end, we touched on a simple out of possession formation, which the girls found confusing, so we will revisit this again very soon…

Coach Chris was under the weather with a cold but his smile afterwards showed how much he had enjoyed himself! One more week to go before we have the half term break, and if the girls keep up this standard, we just can’t wait!

Player of the week for the younger group was Orla – Well, what a fantastic performance, she worked her socks off in the whole session. In the games at the end, she was tackling everyone, whatever the size, running with the ball and even scoring fab goals! Brilliant performance, Orla!

Player of the week for the older group was Ellie P – what a brave goalkeeper she is! She made several fantastic saves throughout the session and for such a young goalkeeper, she has fantastic potential. Well played, Ellie!
