Well, the dust has settled and we are sitting back reviewing the fantastic Pokemon FA Youth Futsal Cup Girls’ qualifiers we hosted over the previous 2 weekends.

Here are some stats for you:

  • Over a 100 girls played futsal, most for the very first time.
  • 15 teams at 4 age groups entered.
  • Over 90 goals were scored in 24 matches.
  • Standing room only for the spectators.
  • Fantastic feedback from players, coaches and parents.

If we go back three years to the first time we hosted the FA Youth Futsal Cup Girls’ qualifiers we had just 5 teams entering, and one of these we had to beg to turn up! The game is growing and we are proud to be part of this.

A huge thank you to all the coaches who give up their time to provide these amazing opportunities to girls of all ages, without you, there are no clubs or games. We were pleasantly surprised by the support from the girls’ families and friends. They applauded all the teams, whether winning or losing, and created a fantastic atmosphere for the girls to play in.

Congratulations to the following teams, who will proudly represent NRCFA in the next round of the tournament in Sunderland over the weekend of 7th & 8th March 2020:

  • Boro Rangers U10s
  • Boro Rangers U12s
  • York Railway Institute U14s
  • Bootham Girls Futsal Club U16s

As a massive bonus to our club we have already had over 10 girls asking to come back and try futsal again. The most used comment was, ‘my daughter had so much fun, can she come again?’

Final thank you goes to Jasmine from NRCFA – since joining NRCFA she has offered amazing support and really helped us move the female game forward, simply put, she is fab!

Roll on 2021 and we will do this all again!
