We welcomed all the players back for the start of a new year and a new decade! Wonder how many times we will be able to say that…

The younger group started with some passing and moving drills, getting them back into the swing of playing futsal. We moved onto some 1v1 full court play, with all players on court at the same time, and with various starting points for both teams.

To get them ready for next week’s qualifiers, the games at the end concentrated on attacking and defending corners. Every time the ball went out of play, we restarted with a corner. We saw some brilliant set plays with some fantastic goals.

The older group started with some team relay races, concentrating on getting them to work as a team and not individuals. Needless to say we had lots of cheating, complaining but lots of laughs!

We progressed on to a shooting practice, with some second post finishing. Special mention to Ellie in goal who made a point blank save with her face, extremely brave young lady.

The older group also worked on set plays and finished with the same matches as the younger group.

Great start to the new year, and we are all excited about the next two weeks qualifiers, bring them on!

Player of the week for the younger group was Emma S – she worked so hard today, and especially on the new corner routines in which her crossing and shooting were brilliant. She can’t wait for next week to play in the qualifiers, well done, Emma!

Player of the week for the older group was Ellie R – what has she been eating over the holidays! She scored three first time finishes, made some mega tackles and her overall play was of the highest quality! What a fantastic session, well done, Ellie!
