A new year and a new set of futsal sessions at Bootham Futsal Club. We had fantastic support from the parents and players and welcome two new girls trying futsal for the first time – welcome Faith and Emma.
The first order of the day for each group was sorting out the new kit for everyone. We had sample shirts, shorts and socks from Macron for the girls to try on. Coach Suzy sorted all this out and we can’t wait for the kit to arrive, the girls are going to look fantastic.

We worked on passing and controlling with the younger group, really getting them to use the soles of their feet to control the ball, both left and right. We talked about being brave and trying to use their weaker foot when it was right to do so. All the girls responded brilliantly, and we had some great results.
We worked on passing and moving with the older group. Two squares, intersecting each other, with the players passing round the outside. Again, we got them to concentrate on using the sole of their foot to control and move the ball, so they could pass it on quickly and accurately.

We finished with a game in which the court was divided into 4 quarters and teams had to complete 2 passes in each quarter before they could go and score. If they lost the ball, or it went out of play, they had to start again.

It was great to be back, and the brand-new floor in the sports hall at St Olave’s, made it even better.  We still have a few places available, the first session is FREE, so why not come and give it a go?

Player of the week for the Under 11s was Maja. Maja is a brilliant person to coach, she is always smiling, laughing and generally having fun.  She also works really hard and always tries what we ask.  Fantastic start to the year Maja!

Player of the week for the Over 12s was Tegan.  We started working with Tegan at U12s in grassroots football and it is brilliant to see the way she had improved, not just technically, but with her confidence also.  Keep up the good work Tegan!
