U12s Tournament

The U12s had 2 teams from Boro Rangers, Middlesbrough and one each from Bootham Futsal Club, Brayton Belles and Fulford Juniors. The games were in a round robin format, with each team playing each other twice in 8 minute games.

Bootham Futsal Club were represented by Ellie, Freya, Katie J, Emma, Ella, Elena, Clare, Holly, Sophie and Emily-Sue.

In their first game Bootham played against a very strong Fulford side. Fulford scored 2 quick goals to lead but Bootham came back with a free-kick from Freya. As Bootham pushed for the equaliser, Fulford caught them on the break to add another. In their second game Bootham faced Boro Rangers Blues and despite taking the lead through Sophie, and some fantastic saves from Ellie, they couldn’t hold on and eventually lost 2-1. Game 3 saw Bootham face Boro Rangers Reds and the goal of the day from Emma saw them win the game 1-0. Last game for Bootham against Brayton Belles was a very close affair with both sides pushing for the win. Brayton won it with a very late goal.

Coach Suzy said afterwards, ‘We are so proud of all the players, over half the team was playing a competitive futsal game for the first time. We spoke at the start about what was success and needless to say they achieved everything we asked.’

Player of the tournament was Emily-Sue – she is just so consistent in everything she does! Her defending, passing and overall game were near perfect, a fantastic performance all day!
