With Storm Ciara howling outside, we had a fantastic turn out for today’s futsal session. Best part of futsal, if the weather is bad outside…who knows!!

After a warm up run by Katie, in which the younger group pinched cones of each other’s team, we went straight into some matches. At the end of a block of coaching, we like to give the girls a whole session to show us what they have learned.

The games were brilliant, with some fantastic futsal on show, with new girls Jessica and Emily showing what good futsal players they will be. After the opening round of matches, the girls were doing so well we added a restriction. When a team was out of possession, they had to leave two of their players in the opposition’s half. This meant the attacking team could create a 4v2, or even 5v2 with the goalkeeper, depending on how brave they were!

We welcomed two new girls to the older group this week, welcome Laura and Katie, we hope you had fun and hope to see you again very soon!

After a crossing and finishing warm up in which goalkeeper Ellie was at her brilliant best, we did the same as the younger group and played some matches.

We gave them the same restriction, leaving two players in the opposition’s half when out of possession, but we also had a one touch finish, and you could only score one goal per game per player. This forces players to rotate and stops one player from dominating the game.

Both sessions today were brilliant, with some awesome one and two touch play on show. Both groups have come a long way in such a short time, and we are really proud of their futsal journey.

We now have a two week break for the school half term, and we all are back on Sunday 1st March in St Peter’s Sports Hall.

Coach Chris said, ‘What an amazing few weeks. We hosted the FA Pokemon FA Futsal Qualifiers, had lots of girls trying futsal for the first time and new members joining. We were worried at the start of this year that the bubble might have burst, but we couldn’t have been more wrong! Thank you to everyone for their amazing support – players and parents, you are all simply brilliant. See you all on the 1st March.’
