Bootham Futsal Club are delighted to announce they have been awarded Charter Standard status by the Football Association.  The Charter Standard is a kite mark of excellence for clubs, showing they have achieved a high standard in all areas of the club, from coaching qualifications, child safeguarding to organisation and club structure.

We spoke to Head Coach Chris Collins after the announcement and he said, ‘We are delighted at this achievement.  It is testament to all the hard work that goes on week in week out behind the scenes.  When we established the club just over a year ago, we never expected the amazing support we would receive from the players and parents of York and the surrounding area.  We started with just 10 girls, and now have over 30, and it is still growing week to week!’

He went on to say, ‘We have big plans for the club and have already committed to entering a team in the Women’s FA Cup qualifiers next season, a huge step for this club.  We want to continue to develop the club at all age groups, but especially the younger ones.  We need to get the girls to fall in love with this game and keep them playing for many years.’

‘We would like to especially thank Donna Crowther at North Riding County FA for all her amazing and continued support, Laura Young at North Yorkshire Sports, without whom we wouldn’t be here, and finally Rebecca Lee-Bursnall at St Peter’s School for providing an outstanding facility.’

He finished by saying, ‘We are humbled by the distance some parents bring their children every single week, it is simply amazing.  The club really does belong to everyone, Suzy, Alan, Simone and myself are just the current custodians.’
