York Railway Institute Girls U13s won their City of York Girls’ 7 A Side League this weekend without even kicking a ball!

Champions 2015

The season was originally supposed to be 20 matches long but after the terrible weather over the last few months the league committee decided to stop after only 15 games.  This leaves York RI top of the league with only two games to go and a healthy 17 point lead.

Coach Chris said in conversation ‘It’s a strange way to win the league!  We were gearing up for the last 7 games, making sure we kept ourselves focused, setting new targets but after this weekend it’s all kind of faded away.’

He went on to say ‘All that said, it has been a fantastic season from the girls, albeit a bit stop start with the weather.  To win 13 out of 13 and have a goal difference of over 100 shows they have competed week in week out.  All the coaches and parents are very proud of each and every one of them.  To win one league title is hard but to defend that title three years in a row shows a real determination from the whole team.’

The girls start their cup campaign this weekend with a quarter-final home game against Bishopthorpe, and then they have already registered to attend several of the one day summer tournaments throughout Yorkshire.

The coaches would love to take them to more tournaments throughout summer and if you know of any please get in touch using any of the contact forms on the website, or email info@procoachingacademy.co.uk with further details.
