We had another new player this week, welcome Alice, we hope you had fun! Actually, Alice played for our U14s in Birmingham this year, so she has had a taste of futsal, but welcome anyway!

The younger group started with a fun bib warm up, where players tried to pinch as many bibs as possible from each other. This was progressed onto 1v1 battles, and boy, we have some determined young ladies!

The main part of the session was about recovery and running with the ball. One set of girls had a ball each and their partners had to run back towards their goal line before turning and trying to catch the attacker! We some some great battles and some fantastic recovery runs from the defenders.

The older group carried on with the ideas from last week. They played 3v3 with goalkeepers on a the full court. The team in possession had to pass or dribble the ball through a set of cones on either side of the court. The last two weeks have been introducing the idea of a 4-0 formation, without actually telling the girls this.

Another outstanding session at Bootham. We are so impressed, week after week, by their fantastic commitment. A huge thank you to you all!

Player of the week for the younger group was Anna – the coaches watched her throughout the whole session and she constantly uses the sole of her foot to control the ball, and is always looking to find space in practises and matches. Fantastic and well played Anna!

Player of the week for the older group was Niamh – in a group that worked amazingly hard, Niamh stood out with her runs on and off the ball, a couple of fantastic passes and her shooting was simply scary! Fantastic session, and by the way, stop breaking my goals!!!!
